Laughing Jack's Rose and Pizza Quattro Formaggi

It started with a bottle of rosé and a pizza. I have developed a habit of trying wines and then matching them to food that suits — and in this case, Laughing Jack’s Rosé and a Quattro Formaggi were a perfect pairing. The painting grew out of that moment: the casual pleasure of good food and good wine, rendered carefully on canvas.

The Laughing Jack label presented its own challenge — the dimpled punt on the base of the bottle is deceptively difficult to paint, a small detail that demands patience and precision. The folks at Laughing Jack are wonderful, and their winery is well worth a visit for anyone who appreciates serious wine made with character.
