About Rob
Even at a very early age I knew I was going to be a painter. When I
was about 4 years old I noticed that packets of "Players"
cigarettes had art on the box. I was hooked. I couldn't
believe how an artist would use paint to make Spanish Morion helmet
looks so real. It wasn't long before I pleaded with my mum and
dad to get me some paints. I even bought my first Walter Foster
booklet for 4 Shillings
Itwasn't long before I was painting but the "guitar" water
colour set just didn't cut the mustard for me. Soon I was
buying oil colours and better brushes. I still have some of the
empty tubes as keepsakes of a very long journey. It was years
later, after school, finding a job and getting married that I started
to settle in to painting. I love to paint and it shows
Painting isn't just hard work. Sometimes you can work and enjoy the fruits of your love. Caught in one of those moments.
It can get to below zero in my studio and that can make things difficult at times. Mixing paint wearing a fur cap and lots of warm clothing.
If I can, I like to have my still life topics handy so I can check colour and accuracy
