Entomorph 4, The Gatekeeper Hornet

The fourth in the Entomorph series.  The Gatekeeper hornet, half insect, half machine hovers near a typical Australian rural gatepost.  The post is in itself a landscape of sorts with lichen, rusting steel band, egg sacs and even a bull ant.  As with all of the Entomorphs that I have painted, realism is essential to pull it off.  The hornet of course is a 1000 time larger than in life and is made of Kevlar, brass and copper.

A great conversation piece this will draw your visitors and family into all sorts of discussion about life and reality and "what if machined insects could serve a purpose.
