Barossa Boy Lifeblood Shiraz and Paint

It started with a bottle of wine and a question. After purchasing Barossa Boy Lifeblood Shiraz, I reached out to ask if I could paint it. The conversation that followed changed the direction of the work entirely — the team at Barossa Boy told me that all their labels were considered art in their own right. That idea took root: if winemaking is an art form, then the act of painting it belongs on canvas too.

The painting that emerged places the striking Barossa Boy Shiraz bottle alongside my own paints and brushes — also in glass — creating a dialogue between two kinds of craft. The wine label, bold and graphic, sits in conversation with the worn brushes and pooled pigment, each reflecting light in their own way. It is a still life about making, about the overlap between the artist’s studio and the winemaker’s cellar.
