I have always loved nautical paintings and have turned my hand to several now. I decided that in the words of the famous maritime artist, Chris Mayger, "not to paint a postcard..." The Sydney ferry Collaroy passengers can be seen here enjoying the swell near Middle Head in Sydney Harbour.
There's not a dry spot on the exterior of the Collaroy. Water (along with maybe just a little vomit) cascades out of the scuppers. Billowing spray can be seen all around the vessel negotiating the swell as water beads on every part of the ferry and fixtures. As the forward steering gear and prop emerge from the water, seconds later water will be spraying all over the bridge. Perhaps one of the few people really enjoying the trip will be the Captain.
